Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy describes how Bakewell (“we”, “us”) handles information when you visit joinbakewell.com or use the Bakewell iOS app. We collect only what we need to run the service, and we do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Account. If you create an account, we receive your email address (or the private relay address Apple provides if you use Sign in with Apple) and a unique account ID. You can also use the app as a guest without an account.

Recipes and content. Recipes you save are stored on your device. If you are signed in, some content may also be stored in our cloud database so it can sync and be recovered.

Imports. When you import a recipe from a link, caption or page, the link and the text we retrieve from it are sent to our servers to be processed. We keep a cache of extracted recipes so repeat imports of the same link are faster.

Purchases. If you subscribe to Bakewell Pro, Apple processes the payment. We receive your subscription status through RevenueCat, linked to your account ID (or an anonymous ID if you are a guest). We never see your payment card details.

Website. Our hosting provider may record standard server data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited.

The app does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use information

We use information to:

• Provide the app, including import, saving, syncing and Pro features
• Verify and manage your subscription
• Respond to support requests
• Maintain security, prevent abuse and fix issues
• Comply with legal obligations

Service providers

We share data only with providers that help us run the service, under terms that protect it:

• Supabase — account sign-in, database and server functions
• OpenAI — imported recipe text is sent to OpenAI to turn it into a structured recipe. We do not send your account details
• Jina AI — the page address you import may be fetched through Jina’s reader service to retrieve its text
• TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and other sites — we request public information from a link you import from the relevant platform
• RevenueCat — subscription management
• Apple — App Store payments and Sign in with Apple
• Our website hosting provider

We may also disclose information when required by law.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account in the app under Settings. This permanently deletes your account and the recipes stored in the cloud. Recipes saved only on your device stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. You can also request deletion by emailing bakewellapp@gmail.com. Subscription and payment records held by Apple are governed by Apple’s policies.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database, to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your information. Contact us at bakewellapp@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

Bakewell is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top changes when we do. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
